EMSPACE DANCE

MONKEY GONE TO HEAVEN

EmSpace Dance reimagines Monkey Gone to Heaven, our 2013 work about primates and prayer, and how we use both to understand being human. It's a collection of dances, stories, sermons, and songs about doubt, faith, and our primate ancestors. See a transcendent encounter with a gorilla, a girl who loses her tail, a prayer to the patron ape of complicated communication, and more! Monkey "looks honestly at fundamental questions about what makes us human and how to we relate to something beyond us." - SF BAY GUARDIAN

Conceived and directed by: Erin Mei-Ling Stuart
Music: Erik Pearson
Costumes: Sonsheree Giles
Performers: El Beh, Liane Burns, Michaela Burns, Natalie Greene, Suzette Sagisi, Wiley Naman Strasser, Christopher W. White

Special thanks to original cast and workshop performers who helped to develop this piece: Jennifer Chien, Kat Cole, Michael Mohammed, Rowena Richie, Courtney Moreno
